DAY 88 – Our Last “Day”

Well, it’s about time that we stopped keeping track of the number of days that we’ve been on our diet, because we aren’t really dieting anymore. We both lost a good amount of weight – BRIAN LOST 30 LBS! LISA LOST 10 LBS! – but now we’re just trying to eat a healthy quantity of food and exercise more. When we were dieting, we didn’t have much energy to do anything. Now, we’ve been eating a little more, and it’s much easier to fit a workout into our day.

We’re not doing it anymore, but dieting for a while was good. Counting our calories really made us realize what a crazy amount of calories there are in some foods! There’s some places that we won’t even eat at anymore! In fact, if we’re eating fast food, it’s pretty much only between Del Taco’s regular tacos at 130 calories each or Wendy’s Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayo or ketsup at 230 calories.

Another reason that we’re not going to be counting calories anymore is that LISA IS LOSING HER MIND! 😛 lol. Seriously, I’m very afraid that I’m going to be married to a skeleton in matter of months. In fact, I might just be stopping in at Dairy Queen before she gets home to get her a Blizzard! She’s skinnier than before we met!? Actually, I guess we both are! 😉

Anyway, as a result of all these changes, Healthy Professionals Food Blog will be changing a little. For the most part, we’re just going to be blogging awesome recipes and pictures of food – no more charts itemizing our food eaten, calories burned, steps taken, and so on. Also, no more calorie scoreboard. So, I guess LISA WINS on the calorie scoreboard!

So, expect more blogs featuring tasty pictures like the one below! It’s actually our dinner from last night. There was something called the California Grill Pack at Stater Bros, and it came with 2 marinated chicken thighs, 3 boneless country-style ribs, and 4 bratworst for $6.99! It was awesome with mac and cheese!

4 Bratworst; 3 Boneless, Country-Style Ribs; and 2 Marinated Chicken Thighs!

Oh yeah! You can also expect more puppy pictures!!!

The cone's not on him just because it's hilarious. He's actually got a "hot spot" on his arm, but he doesn't let his cone bother him!

Day 77 and 78: Workout and Del Taco

On Friday we worked out again. It’s starting to get a little less painful everytime, which is certainly great news!

Also, wanted to take a minute to talk about Del Taco. While the majority of menu item do not fit into a low calorie diet, we were surprised to find that the Original Crunchy Taco only has 130 calories. Can you say awesome?! While I would not recommend dieting exclusively on tacos all day everyday, it is good to know we have some quick lower calorie dining options out there!

The Classic Crunchy Taco is only 130 calories!

DAY 75 – No, seriously, we’re really sore.

A couple of days ago, we were the kind of sore that seemed sure to only get worse over time. Well, it did. Yesterday, we were too sore to even do our pitiful little workout, but today it seems a little better. So, we should probably be able to exercise tonight.

Lisa worked really late yesterday, so dinner became DiGiorno Pepperoni Pizza instead of English Muffin Pizzas. It was awesome, of course. However, it was 960 calories for each of us.

Day 73 – Big Changes! Working out and more calories per day!

Well, it seems like we’ve really hit a wall over the last two weeks (as far as weight-loss goes) and have made changes to our blog format to reflect our diet changes! You’ll notice that we kept the Calorie Scoreboard, but now our daily calorie goal is 1800 calories or less. The reason for this is to make sure that we have enough energy to push ourselves “all the way” during our workouts. Yesterday waws our first workout, and we both feel very sore. To start with, we’re going to be doing 12 minute runs on the EA Active (because it’s 120 degrees outside) and as many sit-ups and push-ups as we can do. Yesterday, we only did 25 push-ups and 35 sit-ups, but we probably could have done more. Also, we’re not going to be itemizing exactly what we eat every day anymore. If you want to get ideas about what to eat to lose weight, check out our diet charts for our first 60 days – we managed to lose lots of weight eating the things that we did! Now we’re in a new phase of our diet, and it’s all about “getting cut”.

Day 72: Wendy’s Again!

Today we went a little over, with the intent to load up before our workout. We certainly accomplished this by heading to our favorite fast food restaurant Wendy’s. Still sticking to the 99 cent menu you can do pretty well. The Deluxe Cheeseburger (w/o Mayo and ketchup), and the regular chili both weigh in at 270 calories. You can also try their grilled chicken snack wrap w/o sauce for 270 calories. Be careful as the regular Crispy Ceasear Snack Wrap had 430 calories each! What a difference!

Day 71: It’s time to start exercising!

Well, we weighed in again this week, and it seems like our progress has plateaued.  While we’re excited that we’ve been loosing weight without exercising the results just are not the same as they were before. So it’s time to start exercising. We are going to start with  just push-ups, sit-ups, and a little indoor running with EA Active. We’ll keep you posted on our progress and any updates to the work outs. Tell us how you incorporate working out into your busy lifestyles by posting a comment below.

A great way to workout at home!

Day 70: Taking it easy on Friday for a change!

Well for a Friday, we both managed to control ourselves yesterday. Not sure what our secret really was, but perhaps it was a bit less drinking than usual. Glad to see we both stayed under 1,200 calories and hope that we can continue such positive results. Let us know how you have fun on Friday’s without burning your diet by posting a comment below!

Just wanted to talk a minute about my daytime eating habits during the work week. I work at least 8 hours a day in an office, and find that I like to graze throughout the day on small snacks, rather than bringing a large lunch or going out to eat. While this not only saves me a substantial amount of money, it also keeps me from gaining a lot of weight. When you’re sitting for most of the day, it’s really hard to justify having a fast food burger and fries. Not only that, I have eaten this for lunch a couple of times, and find myself falling asleep in the afternoon because I am just too full. That said, I have found the following snacks work great for my day. Breakfast= 1 serving of Cheerios or other low calorie cereals without milk. Lunch= 1 serving of carrots and 1 serving of celery (only 50 calories for both!). Afternoon snack= Quaker Rice Quakes. That’s only 290 calories for the whole day and way better than any fast food lunch! We’d love to hear about your diet methods while working in an office. Please share by posting a comment below.

The perfect low calorie snack for working professionals!

Brian took some beef chuck, added carne asada style seasonings, and threw that greatness on the grill! It was definitely tasty and fairly low in calories. We were so excited to eat it that we forgot to take pictures. Oh no! Let us know your favorite low calorie grilling meats by posting a comment below.

Day 66 – Turkey Chili

We had turkey chili for dinner last night, and it was awesome! Brian had never made turkey chili before,  but it was easy with the seasoning packet and simple directions. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures. Next time we’ll be sure to take some! – and there will definitely be a next time, because it was really good! 🙂

The diretions just call for you to brown some meat in a pan, drain the fat, add a can of diced tomatoes and a can of beans (we used Mexican style diced tomatoes that had peppers in them and black beans). This totalled up to 5 servings that we split in half for 670 calories each.
