Day 67 – We’ve Come A Long Way

Recently, we’ve been getting a little upset with our diet (hungry and angry that¬†weight doesn’t fall of easier), but it helps when we think back to how far we’ve come already. First of all, we’re on Day 67, so this is easily the longest that the two of us have stuck to a diet together. Also, both of us are down to the weight we were when we met each other. Therefore, at the very least, we’ve lost all the weight that we gained together in the last 3 years or so. Furthermore, our stomaches have completely shrunk, and we’re both fitting in clothes that we had “outgrown”. Our stomaches have shrunk in another sense as well, because we couldn’t even eat the garbage that we were eating before if we had to. For example, Weinschnitzel orders that involve 10 chili covered items and 24 jalapeno poppers (420 calories in every 6). Most importantly, we feel better – less lethargic, less back pain, easier to bend over, ect. WE’RE JUST REALLY HUNGRY!!! ūüė¶

Day 66 – Turkey Chili

We had turkey chili for dinner last night, and it was awesome! Brian had never made turkey chili before,¬† but it was easy with the seasoning packet and simple directions. Unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures. Next time we’ll be sure to take some! – and there will definitely be a next time, because it was really good! ūüôā

The diretions just call for you to brown some meat in a pan, drain the fat, add a can of diced tomatoes and a can of beans (we used Mexican style diced tomatoes that had peppers in them and black beans). This totalled up to 5 servings that we split in half for 670 calories each.

Day 65 – Getting Even

Brian: I’m really glad that we did some math yesterday and figured out that we’re burning about 1600 calories a day instead of 1440. I was so hungy, and it was so hard to take in negative calories. Very frequently, I feel like I would go over my daily limit just because it was so difficult to eat so little. 1600 seems like a more sustainable number for our calories burnt just staying alive (in other words,¬†NOT including calories burnt from steps on our pedometers). Also, we discovered that about 3500 calories = 1 pound (we thought it was 2000 before). This means that you have to take in a net of MINUS 500 calories per day to lose a pound a week. Ouch. I’m going to really focus on getting my calorie scoreboard looking better this week.

Day 64: Super Saturday and Retraction from Friday’s Numbers

Well we learned a valuable lesson this week! It’s a very good idea to weigh in at the same spot every time with your Wii Fit Board. We discovered yesterday’s results were highly inaccurate because we had the Wii board atop additional carpeting. That said, we crunched the numbers to figure out a better estimate of our resting calorie rate, which came to roughly 1,600 calories per day for each of us. We have also decided to reset the calorie scoreboard to reflect the changes.

Nonetheless, we still decided to enjoy our Saturday. Our bad for going over, but we’ll try hard to make up for it this week.¬†Perhaps we should have skipped the Wendy’s but we still weren’t doing too bad with their¬†Junior Cheeseburger Deluxes at 270 calories each, without sauces.

Day 63: Great Weigh-In this Week!

It’s Friday, so we knew we would want to drink. No worries if you plan ahead though! Brian got tons of steps by cleaning the house so he could enjoy his night, and we both decided to have just a few english muffin treats instead of a large dinner.

Also, we decided to do our weekly weigh-in today. We certainly dread it, and were nervous about it all day! Much to our surprise, Brian lost another 15.7 pounds and Lisa lost 7.7 pounds. Even better, Brian anhilated his goal to get back into the normal BMI range. A normal BMI is between 18.5-25, and Brian is now down to 23.8!  Meanwhile is Lisa has hit her lowest weight ever! Her goal was to reach 115 pounds (her former best weight), and she is now down to 111 pounds! Enjoy our pictures from Wii-Fit below.

Day 62 – Grilled Italian Sausages and Zuchini with Parmesan Cream Sauce

Last night, we had one of the most decadent tasting dinners that we’ve had in a while. The parmesan cream sauce was especially great, but everything worked together in harmony to make this an incredible meal and only 598 calories!!!

Everything was pretty simple, and this mean could be easily re-created with just a little care. The cream sauce was made by simply¬†combining 2 servings (56 grams) of REAL grated¬†parmesan cheese (from a brick)¬†to Classico’s Light Alfredo Sauce, a few¬†teaspoons of garlic and crushed red pepper, and some fresh cracked black pepper.¬†Cook this sauce on very low and stir frequently to allow the parmesan cheese to “become one” with the cream sauce without sticking to the bottom of the pan.

The sausages were lean, turkey italian sausages, and the zuchini was just frozen zuchini. We cooked both on the grill. If you plan to do the same, you may want to get one of those stainless steel grates for grilling vegetables. Also, be very careful when grilling zuchini – or any veggies for that matter. They cook very quickly and have a tendancy to¬†stick to the grill.¬†Lightly covering them in olive oil will help, but we skip the oil calories and just flip them VERY frequently (which isn’t too big of a pain if you’re already keeping an eye on the sausages, but don’t forget to keep stiring your Parmesan sauce!!! ūüėõ
