Day 84 & 85: Grilled Turkey Sausage and Zuchini Onion Kabobs!

We had turkey sausage with cream sauce again! This time we put the zuchini on skewers with little onions. Everything turned out absolutely scrumptious yet again! The sausages have 170 calories each and the 3 kabobs only have about 50 calories!

We also worked out on Wii Fit last night instead of the EA Active. We found the Wii Fit island track to be a bit more entertaining than the EA Active track. Plus on the Wii Fit version we got to chase a small puppy the whole way. What could be more fun?

Day 63: Great Weigh-In this Week!

It’s Friday, so we knew we would want to drink. No worries if you plan ahead though! Brian got tons of steps by cleaning the house so he could enjoy his night, and we both decided to have just a few english muffin treats instead of a large dinner.

Also, we decided to do our weekly weigh-in today. We certainly dread it, and were nervous about it all day! Much to our surprise, Brian lost another 15.7 pounds and Lisa lost 7.7 pounds. Even better, Brian anhilated his goal to get back into the normal BMI range. A normal BMI is between 18.5-25, and Brian is now down to 23.8!  Meanwhile is Lisa has hit her lowest weight ever! Her goal was to reach 115 pounds (her former best weight), and she is now down to 111 pounds! Enjoy our pictures from Wii-Fit below.

Day 29: Healthy Pasta and Wii-Fit Weigh In

Today we enjoyed 2 servings of whole grain pasta with Classico Roasted Garlic Sauce. We wanted to add some ground beef but found that one 4 oz serving of 80/20 ground beef has 270 calories. While this is some of the saddest news we learned (I mean really who doesn’t like pasta with meatballs), we did feel it was important to share. We suggest adding  some vegetables to your sauce, and find this works particularly well with the Classico Light Cream Sauce.

Last night when we were tempted to munch-out we thought it would be a good idea to weigh-in, instead. Despite what our calorie tracker is saying, the Wii Fit says Brian has lost 2.2 lbs. and Lisa has lost 1.8 lbs.!!! While we were still tempted to snack out, we somehow managed to restrain.

Day 27 – Wii Fit Weigh-in. Fat Little Avatars.

We both weighed-in last night even though neither of us were feeling very good about our diet. We weren’t terribly suprized by the results. Brian gained a couple pounds and Lisa stayed about the same. Neither of us lost weight. There’s probably 3 big reasons for that – 1) night-snacking – we’ve been eating a lot of calories in the evenings before bed, 2) no exercise – we haven’t been exercising lately, 3) drinking too much – mainly Brian’s downfall.

Starting today, we’re both wearing pedometers. Soon, we’re going to set a “steps” goal for ourselves everyday; meaning that we’re going to try to get a certain number of steps logged on our pedometer each day. We’ll be recording our daily steps here on our blog, so we encourage all of you to wear a pedometer and count your steps with us!

Weighing-in on the Wii Fit can be especially cruel, because they adjust the waistsize of your little avatar (Nintendo Mii) according to your ACTUAL weight! You use your Nintendo Mii as your avatar in other games besides Wii Fit, so this can be embarrassing!!!

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail Recipe and Brian Lost 7 More Pounds!!!

Lisa’s out of town! You know what that means, Brian gets to eat fish!!!  I love fish. Seafood is one of my favorite catagories of food. Unfortunately, Lisa doesn’t even like me eating it around her. So, I eat it when she’s not around! This Mexican shrimp cocktail is one of my favorite treats when Lisa’s not around. I frequently run to the local taco shop behind her back, but very seldom do I get to make my own batch at home.

Also, weighed-in this morning on the Wii Fit, and I’ve lost 7 more pounds!!! The calorie-counting really seems to be working, so we’re encouraged that we haven’t been weighing all our food on a postal scale for no reason! 🙂

Lisa actually did manage to count her calories on vacation, and I think she plans to everyday. Below is our calorie chart.

Mexican Shrimp Cocktail recipe:

Ingredients:

2 lbs cooked, peeled, deveined shrimp

several shakes of Tapatio hot sauce

1 or 2 large bottles of Clamato

2 cucumbers

3 avacados

1/2 onion

4 limes

First, peel the cucumbers, slice them down them middle, and scoop the seeds out with a spoon. Then, dice all your veggies into small pieces as if for a salsa. Then, cut the tails off your shrimp, squeeze in the juice from the limes, and add clamato to your preference – but at least enough to submerge your ingredients. Finally, shake in some Tapatio and fresh cracked pepper and stir everything together before chilling it in the fridge.

In my Mexican shrimp coctail, I tried using a little V8 juice to thicken it a little, but I didn’t like it as well as if I had used just Clamato. Also, I recommend using Tapatio hot sauce in your shrimp cocktail, but made my with Cholula – as you’ll see in the pictures. Additionally, I used a whole onion in my cocktail yesterday, but I would definitely recommend a half onion or perhaps 3/4 onion. Forgot to de-seed my cucumbers as well. Later, I spoke with a friend of mine who is a professional cook, and he said that it would be better if I had de-seeded the cucumber. It wasn’t bad with the seeds, but I think he’s right about removing them. Four limes worked out fine, but if you really enjoy lime juice in your cocktail – it could take at least a couple more. I did some math and figured that the whole batch was about 2500 calories and about 10 servings worth of food. So, each serving should be about 250 calories. 

 

DAY 1 – Low-Carb Pizza, Mile Run, and Fatty Photos!!!

Today was officially the first day of our new diet, and we started out with a low-carb pizza, a mile run around the outside of our apartment complex, and taking fatty photos. We were going to weigh-in on our Wii-fit board, but it turns out our Wii is broken! 😦    So, we’re going to have to buy a new one soon to weigh-in and start using EA Active.

The low-carb pizza was awesome, and we’re definitely going to make this one again.

Ingredients:

A Whole Zuchini

A Whole Tomato

A Whole Green Pepper

Half  of an Onion

Quarter Cup of Spinach

Pepperoni

Low-Fat Mozzarella Cheese

Light Alfredo Sauce

It’s pretty simple, just cover the bottom of your oven safe (pan or pans) with the alfredo sauce, cover that with shredded mozzarella cheese, spread pepperoni on top of that, and then pile on all of the vegetables! Then, bake it in the oven at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes.

Also, we will feature our exercise experiences using the Nintendo Wii and other conventional methods of exercise. On the Wii, we’ll be using Wii Fit Plus and EA Active.
